Man Utd v Brighton: Player ratings, Erik ten Hague’s reaction, and two players blamed for Roy Keane’s defeat

Erik ten Hague was given a stark reminder that he is tasked with rebuilding rather than improving Manchester United as they lost their Premier League opener at home to Brighton.

Two first-half goals from German midfielder Pascal Gross saw the Old Trafford faithful, who turned out in numbers before kick-off to protest against the club’s ownership, lure their players down the tunnel at the break. What did

It was one of those that helped inspire the first-half collapse of United’s game plan when Danny Welbeck was played in behind the backline by Leandro Broussard, and his pass to the back of the net to stroke home. I Found Gross on the post.

How many red cards did Roy Keane get?

Roy Keane is the fourth Premier League player to receive seven red cards.

It was no less than Brighton deserved, although their two-goal advantage at the break probably flattered them a little. Having said that, the quality of the move for the second, which started with their corner flag and ended with Gross after Solly March’s shot was saved, was probably worth three points on its own.

United, who introduced Cristiano Ronaldo shortly after the break, improved and went close to halving the deficit when Marcus Rashford was superbly denied by a spread-eagled Robert Sanchez. The Spanish goalkeeper produced another strong save minutes later to deny Christian Eriksen but then latched on to a swinging corner which eventually fell into the net of Alexis McAllister. It was too late for United though.

Ten Hague opted not to start Ronaldo after a late start to pre-season and demanded to leave the club.

Debutant Eriksen started as a “false nine” before ten Hague teed up Ronaldo just seven minutes into the second half. Despite the move, the Dutchman insisted he had not made a mistake by starting the Portuguese on the bench.

“If there was a striker available, I would have played him,” Ten Hague said later.

That’s why we haven’t started it.

Two strikers, maybe a third with Marcus Rashford. We considered him as a striker but he had a great pre-season on the left.

The real problem, however, according to the former Manchester United captain, was in midfield, where Scott McTominay and Fred – known as “McFred” – were charged with running the show.

” Kane told Sky Sports.

Man, United is as poor as any team in the Premier League.

Great chance for Bruno Fernandes to hit the target. But after that, Brighton has been excellent, Man United is everywhere in space, so open it’s wrong.”

How many goals does Roy Keane score for Manchester United?

33 leagues

Kane scored 33 league goals for Manchester United and a total of 51 goals in all competitions.

David De Gea – Pre-season microphones picked up on the teenage Barretting De Gea for kicking the ball long, and Brighton’s high pressing pressured his passing on more than one occasion. Could have done little about the first goal, perhaps pushing March’s early shot further away for the second. 6/10

Diego Depot – A terrific first touch of the season almost conceded United after 17 seconds and was repeatedly exposed by Troussard’s passing. 4/10

Harry Maguire – There was a bit of a catch out behind Welbeck’s run-in, which ultimately overloaded United at the back post. There is still an understanding with Martinez that seems non-existent at the moment. 5/10

Lisandro Martinez – Talks a lot about how he can cope with being so small, but the biggest challenge is integrating with a backline that isn’t currently much of a unit. He was lucky not to be penalized for pushing Welbeck against him as well. Never got a real handle 4/10

Luke Shaw – Was the best of a bad bunch in defense, but that’s a low bar. 6/10

Fred – Nervous moment at the start when trying to face his own goal from behind, something he will have to improve on under Ten Hague. De Gea didn’t react quickly enough when March’s shot was pushed into the path of Grass for the second and curled for Ronaldo. 5/10

Scott McTominay – perhaps fortunate enough to only see yellow for a follow-through that caught Caicedo high on the shin, but was hampered by his inability to shut down counter-attacks. Gave the ball into positions that led to chances on numerous occasions, and lacked any real incisiveness when he got forward. 4/10

Jadon Sancho – A lovely crossfield pass on the counter helped spark United’s most potent attack in the first half but was largely peripheral. 5/10

Bruno Fernandes – It could have been so different if Bruno hadn’t kicked the ball from 13 yards and the score was still 0-0. The fluttering between the lines was annoying at times. 6/10

Marcus Rashford – Showed bits and pieces of cutting energy down the left but perhaps should have scored United’s first goal twice in five minutes, once from 15 yards with no defender in sight and again at the back post 25 minutes from time. were left without a trace. 5/10

Christian Eriksen – His feet got a little tangled in the box when a quick counter-attack ended with a goal-scoring opportunity. A teasing ball almost sent Rashford out just after the break. It would be nice to play the false nine characters that Ten Haig seems to want to play. Better as a deep playmaker than he became after Ronaldo arrived. 6/10

How many times has Roy Keane won the Premier League?

He ended his career with 1 Champions League, and 4 FA Cups. He won the Community Shield 4th time and the Intercontinental Cup is first.

The full horror of the Hague’s woes showed late in the first half when Brighton turned the order and lead into two goals in nine minutes. The Brighton players scanned the pitch for a response as the Brighton players erupted in celebration for the second ten Hague. Who was hurt, embarrassed, ashamed? Old Trafford resembled Culloden, a battle that lasted just over 40 minutes as Brighton was shredded by United. Mercifully, the shirts of the fallen here were draped in shades of red that did not fall off the bodies on the floor.

In a painful response to last season’s failures, Ten Hague was casting about the pitch to see who was in it to fight. He was learning himself and what his team was made of in real-time. And it didn’t smell good. Brighton, short of Mark Cuccorella and Yves Busoma, who featured in a 4-0 shellacking of the Amex in Ralf Rangnick’s last game in charge, were as drilled and excited as ever. And in Moises Caicedo, they had a player at the base of the midfield who mercilessly expressed the qualities present in the Ten Hag’s team.

Reluctant Frankie de Jong’s long summer courtship always seemed like a fool’s errand. With the imperious Caicedo, a United fan, controlling the game, it represented another epic failure of talent. None of this is Ten Hague’s fault. But he will be held accountable at some point until the underlying problems associated with leveraged buyouts are addressed. man-utd-v-brighton-player-ratings-erik-ten-hagues-reaction-and-two-players-blamed-for-Roy-Keanes-defeat

Robert Sanchez – had nothing to do for almost an hour and then denied Rashford brilliantly one-on-one. Also blocked the odd shot but then ended his good work by curling over for a corner. Capable of genius and insanity, often in the same minute. 7/10

Joel Veltman – Assisted by Gross but he kept Rashford relatively quiet. There will be difficult days at the office. 7/10

Lewis Dunk – Unrepentant in the air and growing as a distributor. He did not give the ball even once in the whole day. 7/10

Adam Webster -when Brighton switched to a back four and United rarely troubled him. 7/10

Soli March – Usually a hard-working performance and made his presence felt on both ends. A great start to his 11th league season with the club. 8/10

Alexis Mac Allister – Will be charged with replacing Yves Bissouma this season, big shoes to fill, looks like he’s relishing the challenge. Their own goal is not his fault. 7/10

Maine Utd News

Moises Caicedo – Produced several awkward crosses before a painful challenge from Scott McTominay left him groaning in pain. Got up though and watched 90 minutes out. 7/10

Leandro Trossard – lost hard and played a key pass at the back to open United up to score the first goal. Rarely seemed to make a wrong decision. 8/10

Pascal Gross – A lovely early pass put Welbeck past but nothing happened, but the striker returned the favour inside the first half-hour to allow him to stroke home. 9/10

Adam Lallana – An integral part of the Brighton forward line who drilled holes at will at 8/10

Danny Welbeck – An obvious focal point for the Brighton attack, Welbeck lost his footing when played early on and could have done better when Caicedo’s cross fell on his head. Made a good run-in behind Maguire before Gros squared for the opener. 9/10

Brighton boss Graham Potter was delighted with his players’ displays but had particular praise for former United striker Danny Welbeck, who was a threat all afternoon.

Premier League Table

“I thought he was amazing. He’s enjoying his football,” he said.

“He’s had his best pre-season since we’ve been working together. It’s been fantastic.

“What impressed me about the team was that there was a lot of responsibility on the pitch.”

He added: “We have a fantastic group of players who have ambition and give everything every day. It was a great performance and deserved to win. A great way to start.”

First, of course, it will take a double dose of patience. No one is expecting Ten Hague to solve Manchester United overnight, and there will be plenty of supporters who rightly doubt whether he ever will (and blame him in the slightest for that). will not stay). It is at least a two-year plan for United to return to the Champions League.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t be nervous after the 2021-22 performance. The teenager has been working towards the first league game of the season since being appointed, knowing first impressions will be crucial given last season’s troubles. His team was booed off at halftime and booed off at the full time. But then who is surprised? United have spent all summer chasing a midfielder who doesn’t seem particularly keen on joining and probably won’t solve the problems on his own anyway. They have signed another highly-rated expensive defender to join the four they have already signed and are still surprised it hasn’t worked out. Lisandro Martinez was terrible: caught flat-footed, missed headers should have been a penalty. man-utd-v-brighton-player-ratings-erik-ten-hagues-reaction-and-two-players-blamed-for-roy-keanes-defeat

There are Manchester United supporters who seriously think Harry Maguire is the problem. he is not. United lost 4-0 to Brighton. They lost 3–1 to Arsenal, 1–0 to Wolves, and drew 2–2 with Aston Villa. They played 12 league and Champions League matches without him in the team and kept two clean sheets at home against Watford and Brentford.

They need a proper central midfield. Whatever happens before the end of August, it’s a shame to start another season hoping Scott McTominay and Fred are the answer – they’re not. It’s also embarrassing to be left dancing to Cristiano Ronaldo’s tune as he attempts his exit. Nothing will change until these things change. Still, at least they are for Marko Arnautovic

While United seem to buy individual after individual and fails to understand that the environment of the club – scouting, recruitment, coaching, discipline, atmosphere, infrastructure – sets the tone for everything, Brighton gets At United, you feel like they can buy whomever they want and it won’t solve the problems. At Brighton, you feel like they could sell to anyone and still find a way to fulfill their potential. man-utd-v-brighton-player-ratings-erik-ten-hagues-reaction-and-two-players-blamed-for-roy-keanes-defeat

Let’s not go too far, because we’re going to have plenty of opportunities to say this season, but this is the house that Tony Bloom built and Graham Potter maintains with such logic and competence.  Don’t worry – you’ve already bought their replacements and those replacements look like they can outlast their predecessors. Haven’t found that big-name striker your fans have been wanting? Don’t worry – you can squeeze every last drop of Danny Welbeck’s potential. Don’t miss the irony of the former Manchester United castoff.

It’s a line we’ve used repeatedly about Potter, including in our season previews, but at some point, a big club will sit up and take notice of his ability to organize a team so that he can get the job done. Be more than the sum of its parts and be better than a poor player to showcase your best assets and hide your flaws. While other coaches at established Premier League clubs lament the lack of investment that has already seen several players signed, Potter continues.
