Bank Introduction:
With its headquarters at Karachi’s Habib Bank Plaza, Habib Bank Limited is a prominent bank in Pakistan (HBL). In 1940, the Habib family founded HBL, making it the country of Pakistan’s first commercial bank. It established its first overseas office in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 1951.
The Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED) in Geneva, Switzerland, receives a significant amount of funding from HBL. The bank relocated its corporate offices to Habib Bank Plaza, the tallest structure in South Asia, in 1972. In 1974, the government nationalized the bank, and it was privatized in 2003.
As of 2018, HBL has 1700+ branches spread across 25 countries across four continents. It has consistently been recognized as the top Pakistani company in the Forbes Global 2000 and is the largest corporation in Pakistan in terms of assets. With more than 1,700 branches, it is also the biggest commercial bank in Pakistan. HBL will have 20,795 permanent workers by the year 2020.
