“It was a terrible moment,” said Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel.”He had a concussion and was undergoing concussion treatment.” He was taken to the hospital. “I’m confident he’ll be released.”

Earlier this week, the league said it would investigate the Dolphins’ concussion evaluation process after Tagovailoa returned to the game following a hard hit in the first half of the team’s Sept. 25 game against the Buffalo Bills.

The Dolphins initially assumed it was a head injury, but McDaniel took back the call and said Tagovailoa hurt his back, which he confirmed again Thursday night.

So how do teams assess head injuries?

How the NFL Defines Concussions

A sports-related concussion is defined by the National Football League as “traumatic brain damage produced by biomechanical forces.”

The league says concussions can be caused by a direct hit to the head, face, neck, or elsewhere on the body that transmits force to the head.

Observable signs of concussion include any loss of consciousness, seizures, delayed movement, difficulty with motor or balance coordination, blank vision, head shaking, confusion, amnesia, or visible facial lesions.

Preseason concussion protocol

All players and team employees should receive and review concussion education materials at the beginning of the season and then develop an emergency medical action plan.

Prior to the start of the season every other year, athletes must undergo a baseline neurological evaluation and testing. The test may consist of a computerized exam, a pencil and paper test, or a combination of both, and is conducted every three years. If a player’s concussion persists, further tests may be performed.

Game Day Protocol

On game day, nonaffiliated neurotrauma consultants (UNCs) and athletic trainers are stationed on the sidelines and in the stadium booth to survey the game for signs of concussion.

If UNCs or athletic trainers, also known as booth spotters, see any signs of a concussion, they should contact the team physician to recommend a sideline examination. UNC may also make a recommendation to the opposing team.

The player is first sent to the sideline to be checked out, and if any signs of concussion are noted, the player is sent to the locker room for further evaluation and is not permitted to return to the game.

If a player is returned to the game before the medical staff has completed an evaluation, the booth spotter may call a medical timeout until the evaluation is completed.

Once a player is diagnosed with an injury, they are not allowed to meet the press, speak, or drive on the day of the injury.

Viewers are furious with the Dolphins’ response.

Many who watched the game were highly critical of how the Dolphins handled Tagovailoa over the past week, saying he should not have been cleared to play Thursday.

“The most important thing about Tua is that he understands that life is larger than football,” said former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III.”Teams should always prioritize the person over the athlete.” Health comes first, followed by competitive advantage. It’s not only about athlete safety when it comes to keeping tawa out. It’s all about the quality of life. “

NFL Hall of Famer and Fox Sports commentator Shannon Sharp said in a tweet that he believes the Dolphins are lying about Tagovailoa’s back injury last week, not the head injury.

“It’s a serious injury,” he said in another. Toa shouldn’t have gone out on Sunday or Thursday. Sometimes players need to protect themselves. The Dolphins failed Toa. “

In the end, Cincinnati was able to pull out a victory in Thursday night’s game between the Bengals (2-2) and Dolphins (2-2).

However, Cincinnati won’t complain about how it got the win. The Bengals were defeated in their first two games of the season. As in Week 4 last season, Cincinnati ended up with a tough game on their hands, at home, on “Thursday Night Football.” And just like last year, the Bengals did enough to get a much-needed win.

Describe the game in two words: primetime melee. On a showcase night for the Bengals, Cincinnati was a bit sluggish but still poised to get another win on “Thursday Night Football.”

A breakout performance: Joe Mixon looked great on the team’s opening drive as he picked up steady chunks of yards and scored his first rushing touchdown of the season. But during the game, Mixon’s production regressed. It took Mixon 17 carries to reach 50 yards, which is what Cincinnati’s coaching staff wanted for its rushing attack. Mixon was sacked on third-and-goal from the Miami 1-yard line in the fourth quarter.

Cincinnati quarterback Joe Tunnel didn’t have one of his best appearances against Miami, and the verification is in the NFL Cutting edge details. Barring tosses behind the line of scrimmage, Tunnel finished his initial 10 passes of 10 or less yards. On moderate tosses somewhere in the range of 10 and 19 yards, notwithstanding, he missed his initial five endeavors. Yet, Tunnel had the option to conquer any battles for certain profound passes that moved the offense, including a 59-yard score pass to wide recipient Tee Higgins.

Upsetting pattern: OK, we should discuss wrongdoing once more. For the third time in four games, things weren’t solid for Cincinnati. The offense was powered by fans inside the Paycor Arena on different events. There were a few splendid spots, however a lazy appearance for the initial 3/4 would have been upsetting for those expecting Seven days 3 win over the New York Planes that implied the offense was turning a corner. The Bengals scored a score on the initial drive for the second week straight.

Next game: at Ravens (8:20 p.m. ET, Oct. 9)

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was taken to the clinic with head and neck wounds.

CINCINNATI – – Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was taken to a nearby emergency clinic in the wake of enduring head and neck wounds on a second-quarter sack against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night.

Tagovailoa hit the rear of his head on the ground when he was sacked by Bengals nose tackle Josh Tupou, and his arms seemed to rise very quickly. He stayed on the field for around 10 minutes prior to being carted away on a cot.

The Dolphins expressed presently before halftime that he was cognizant and had a full scope of movement at the clinic, College of Cincinnati Clinical Center. He said Tagovailoa was supposed to be let out of the emergency clinic Thursday night and return to Miami with the group. the NFL concussion policies

Dolphins mentor Mike McDaniel said Taguveloa called him when he went down.

“He wasn’t the same guy I’d seen before,” McDaniel observed. The entire Dolphins team gathered at midfield and screamed, “Tua! Tua!” as Tagore was brought down. He’s in the blackout convention, but he’s getting out.

“It’s a close-to-home second.” It’s no piece of the agreement you pursue. His partners and I were extremely concerned, however, it was checked and it’s nothing more significant than a blackout. “
